The Māori Plan

Through extensive research and engagement, the Māori plan brings together the aspirations of Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau. This engagement with Māori has informed the development of a framework that is cognisant of the constant evolution of Tāmaki Māori development in Te Ao Hurihuri, but is also enduring in its adherence to the values of Te Ao Māori.

Māori Value Reports

These innovative reports measure progress in Māori wellbeing by using a Māori values approach. Their purpose is to increase Auckland Council and central governments understanding of measuring Māori wellbeing using Māori concepts and worldviews by taking a strengths based approach to Māori aspirations, activities and achievements.

Te Tiriti O Waitangi Audits

Every three years we conduct a Te Tiriti o Waitangi Audit to assess the Auckland Council’s performance in acting in accordance with statutory references to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and statutory responsibilities to Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau. This enables us to provide guidance on what is required of council and how to achieve those requirements.

Data Strategy

The advice and advocacy of the issues of significance to Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau is based on the understanding that information on Māori wellbeing requires relevant and reliable data. Noting the importance of quality, strengths-based data for Māori, we adopted a Data Strategy to guide our use of data.
