  • David Taipari

    David Taipari

    CHAIRMAN | CURRENT - 2025

    David Taipari is a vastly experienced advocate for our people and has a broad range of skills gained through more than 30 years involvement in Māori development and local government. He has held a wide range of roles in rūnanga, Māori trust boards, Treaty negotiation, marae trusteeship, economic development, conservation boards, the Hauraki Gulf Forum and standing committees of district councils.

    David has been a member and chair of the Board since its inception in 2010. He is selected for the Board by the Marutūāhu mana whenua representatives.

  • Hon. Tau Henare

    DEPUTY CHAIRMAN | CURRENT - 2025

    Of Ngāpuhi descent, Tau grew up in Otara, South Auckland. He went on to be involved in union organisation, community development, and early childhood education. With a political career spanning two decades, Tau won the Northern Māori electorate in 1993 and served the following term as the Minister of Māori Affairs. After becoming a list MP in 2005, Tau also chaired the Māori Affairs Select Committee from 2008 to 2014. Currently, Tau is a Board member on the Crown Forestry Rental Trust.

    Tau is appointed to the Board representing mātāwaka.

    Pongarauhine Renata

    Pongarauhine (Honey) Renata of Ngāti Whanaunga, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Kahungunu has 25 years of experience in whānau, hapū and iwi development.

    Honey has held and currently holds roles within Māori Trust Boards, Rūnanga, Treaty Negotiations, Marae, Whānau land Trusts, Hauraki Gulf Forum. Previous experience working in Housing, Fisheries, Matua Whangai, Education, Working with Councils - Regional and District.

    Honey is selected by the Marutūāhu mana whenua representatives.

    Tony Kake

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Of Ngāti Hau, Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Mahuta, Ngāti Whāwhākia and Tainui, Tony is the CEO of the Papakura Marae. With previous experience as a Funding and Planning Manager in Māori Health for the Counties Manukau District Health Board, he has more than 20 years of experience in community development and social policy including 10 years as Manager, Community Development with Manukau City Council.

    Tony was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2022 New Years Honours list. Tony is a representative of mātāwaka.

  • Edward_Ashby

    Edward Ashby

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Edward Ashby has held senior positions working with iwi in Tāmaki Makaurau.

    He has a background in cultural resource management and extensive experience working with local and central government, Treaty settlements, and iwi commercial and social development.

    The Waiohua – Tāmaki Alliance rōpū selected Edward to represent them on the Board.

    Rewa Billy Brown

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Billy is currently the Chair of the Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki Trust, a trustee on the Ngāi Tai Investment Board and a Director on the iwi tourism board Te Haerenga o Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki.

    Billy is a businessman and entrepreneur with extensive experience in governance across central and local government including infrastructure and the environment. He runs his own consultancy specialising in governance, leadership, strategy and business. Billy is selected by the Waiohua-Tāmaki mana whenua representatives.

  • Ngarimu_Blair

    Ngarimu Blair

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Ngarimu is currently the Deputy Chair of the Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei Trust and their appointee to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Whai Rawa Ltd which is the commercial company of the hapū. He is also a Director of Kāinga Ora and Waka Kotahi and is the long-serving Co-Chair of the Tāmaki Makaurau Mana Whenua Forum.

    Ngarimu is of Te Uri o Hau, Ngāti Whātua Tūturu, Te Taoū, Ngāti Rango and Ngā Oho descent and an active member of Hoani Waititi Marae in West Auckland.

  • Glenn_Wilcox

    Glenn Wilcox

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Glenn assumes the role of Co-Chair at the Affinity Charitable Trust and holds a Board Member position at Healthwest and the Sir Peter Blake Marine Education and Recreation Centre (MERC). He also serves as a qualified Hearings Commissioner and has been a dedicated board member since its establishment in 2010.

    He previous led the Committee of Management for a hapū-owned farm on the South Kaipara Peninsula and was an integral part of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whātua. Presently, Glenn serves as the Chair of the Te Runanga o Ngāti Whātua Fisheries.

  • Terrence_Mook_Hohneck

    Terrence Mook Hohneck

    BOARD MEMBER | CURRENT - 2025

    Lead treaty negotiator for Ngāti Manuhiri, Mook is an executive member of the Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust.

    He has extensive treaty negotiation experience acting as a negotiator for Ngāti Maniapoto and is a member of the Tāmaki Makaurau Mana Whenua Forum. He is also a tangata whenua member of the Hauraki Gulf Forum.

    Mook is a representative of mana whenua.
